Below is a list of some of my favorite jazz musicians, organized by instrument. This is still an work in progress, so don't worry if your favorite isn't on here yet!
Among my favorite jazz pianists, his style features many block chord type solos, as well as some simple but beautifully executed melodic ideas. Peri's Scope and Waltz for Debby are some of my favorite compositions of his. Below is a recording of "On Green Dolphin Street", which examplifies his block chord soloing.
Another amazing jazz pianist. I am a huge fan of his solos that often have simple melodic ideas that turn into something more. When listening to his songs when driving in my car, I often find his solos the easiest to sing along to out of all jazz pianists. Also an incredibly paasionate player with his classic "buzzing" singing during his live performances. Below is his live performance of "On Green Dolphin Street", which shows both the digestible improvization, and the visualization of his feelings (and ours) for the song.
